NaTasha Yvette Williams (Queenie) is a singer, actress, and entertainer from the United States. She has performed everywhere from the subway to Broadway since she began singing at the age of three in her church’s tiny tot choir. She played Aretha Franklin in A Night with Janis Joplin and has appeared in Porgy and Bess by George and Ira Gershwin and The Color Purple by Oprah Winfrey. Ms. Williams has previously performed with the orchestras of the Indianapolis Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, and Baltimore Symphony. Her current recording project is How Deep is the Ocean, a collection of standards, and she has a Gospel project, Songs That Carry Me Through… Some Old, Some New. Ms. Williams was the inaugural winner of Kraft Foods’ New Voice of Gospel competition. A Night with Janis Joplin, The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess (as Mariah), The Color Purple (as Sophie), and Stephen Flaherty’s Dessa Rose at Lincoln Center are among her Broadway credits. She has appeared in Trevor Nunn’s production of Margaret Martin’s Gone with the Wind (Mammy). She performed as Melopmene in the national tours of John Farrar and Jeff Lynne’s Xanadu (Melopmene), Greg Morrison and Lisa Lambert’s The Drowsy Chaperone (Trix the Aviatrix), Joe DiPietro’s Elvis musical All Shook Up (Sylvia), Stephen Flaherty’s Seussical the Musical (Sour Kangaroo), Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Gra (Mrs. Crosby). Crowns at Arkansas Repertory Theater and Arena Stage (as Velma and Mabel, respectively), Marc Shaiman’s Hairspray (as Motormouth Maybelle) and Ain’t Misbehavin’ at Papermill Playhouse, and the title role in Mahalia: A Gospel Musical at the Cleveland Playhouse are among her regional credits. NaTasha Yvette Williams will make her New York Philharmonic debut with these performances.
